Dearest Michael,

Words cannot express how thankful we are that you lived during our lifetime; it was our good fortune to witness your artistry, magic and humanity. When life gets us down, due to disability and injustice, we think of you and play your music, and it lifts our spirits. You lived up to an ideal few even aspire to. You renew our hope when all seems lost and hopeless; and give love to those who feel unloved. Your kind, gentle heart is missed, and your glowing spirit is still needed in this world.

No one can fill the void you left behind; no one is capable, but we look to your children with hope. It's clear they're the very essence of you. Your mega talents are evident to all, yet you are so much more than that. You stood your ground against hate, and forged a path like a beacon to follow. You lived with such grace and fortitude, it was easy to forget you were mortal like the rest of us. We're humbled and honor you in this small way. Thank you for sharing yourself with the world; you'll NEVER be forgotten.

We've been lifelong fans since the early Motown days. You never knew it, but you've been an important part of our lives from adolescence to adulthood. You inspired us to reach higher, go farther and push aside fear.

Michael, do you know how beautiful you are? How rare? How special? You embodied ideals few have the vision to embrace - love, acceptance, compassion - words cynics outright laugh at, because they're too blind by cowardice to know better. It takes courage to love, especially in the face of adversity; and only the purest of hearts knows the rewards of acceptance and compassion. The weight on your shoulders must have been immense, yet somehow you carried it all, and us, along with you.

Michael, you still give us hope and brighten our darkest days. You're still our inspiration; and the world pales in your absence, though we still feel you with us. Thanks to you, we dared to dream and follow our hearts, in spite of the overwhelming odds against us. Thank You Michael; much L.O.V.E.

Anyone who does things differently, changes the standard for everyone.
